With a little creativity and some smart planning, you can create a website that looks great and functions well without spending a fortune.
Content management systems are your secret weapon to website design on a budget!
Content management systems (CMS) like WordPress are a great way to create a website on a budget. They are free to download and use, and they come with a variety of templates and plugins that you can use to customize your website. They’re like a personal assistant for your website.
Unlike other website platforms like Wix, Squarespace or Shopify, WordPress doesn’t have a monthly cost and is overall free to use. The easiest and cheapest way to use WordPress is to simply purchase Hosting which houses WordPress on it. A great and budget-friendly hosting provider that I recommend is SiteGround*. Check them out if you’re unsure what hosting is.
Get a website builder to do the heavy lifting
Website builders are like your personal chef, they make website building a breeze and their the most incredible tool for easily accessible website design on a budget. They come with a variety of templates that you can customize to suit your needs and many website builders offer a free plan or a free trial. My favourite option is to use Elementor Pro with a WordPress website.
Templates are your best friend for simplified website design
Another aspect that can simplify your website creation process is to use free or low-cost templates. There are many websites that offer a wide variety of templates that you can customize to suit your needs. Elementor also has templates already installed that can make your build process a lot easier, check out Elementor’s Themes.
Royalty-free stock images are key to staying on budget
Images can make a big impact on the look and feel of your website, but they can also be costly. To save money, use royalty-free images from websites like Pixabay, Unsplash, or Pexels. They are like the clearance section at your favourite store but for images!
Be selective with your website design features
When designing your website, be selective with the features that you include. For example, if you don’t need a shopping cart or a blog, don’t include them. Keep your website simple and focused on the most important features that will help you achieve your business goals. Think of it as a choose-your-own-adventure story for your website.
Get some affordable, one-on-one guidance
If you’re still feeling a bit unsure, I know I googled “website design on a budget” one too many times when I was moving from side hustle to full-time business too.
I can totally relate. Years ago when I started my website journey, even I was hesitant to build something myself. That was before I focused my efforts solely on learning and researching every aspect of website design. Now, I can build a website, practically, in my sleep.
So I know what you’re feeling, and I wanted to create something epic to simplify this whole process for you. I’ve since created The Website Transformation Academy and simplified every step of the website creation journey. Whether you’re starting from scratch (no website), or you have a WordPress website you don’t love (I get it! This is for redesigning your existing site also!), OR you’re looking to create your first E-Commerce website and want to be well-versed in using your website after… then the Website Transformation Academy is for you!
Check it out and join us. You have the option to include your own secret weapon (hint hint: it’s a “website designer in your pocket!”), with 1:1 access to your own website designer support system every Monday to Friday.
